The Avigilon Alta MP2500 is a high-capacity intelligent controller built on the HID Mercury MP2500 platform and factory-configured for Avigilon Alta Access (formerly Openpath). As the processing core of the system, it makes access decisions, manages alarms, and runs scheduled operations entirely on board, so doors keep functioning even if the connection to the cloud or server host is lost. It scales to 64 doors/openings across two 2-wire RS-485 multi-drop buses (up to 4,000 ft each) and holds an enterprise-grade 600,000 cardholders with a 500,000-event transaction buffer — roughly 2.5× the cardholder capacity of an MP1502, making it the right controller for large sites and high-turnover facilities. It connects to the host over on-board 10/100 Ethernet (or Micro-USB with an optional adapter) and runs an embedded Linux platform hardened with ARM TrustZone, secure boot, and encrypted communication.
